If you figure out what you want to do with your life as a child….your smart.
If you figure out how to put your thoughts into actions…your diligent.
If you acutally acheive your childhood dream.. your rare.
I was recently on Twitter and read Esthero’s post that MusiCares® was hosting a blog contest about the importance or music and supporting artists. This isn’t really about winning the contest as much expressing my opinion about something very dear to my heart.

Don’t forget to join the MusiCares Blogger Contest!http://blog.musicares.com/2011/09/09/music-blogger-contest/

When Hurricane Katrina hit the US in 2005, it was the deadliest U.S. hurricane since the 1928 and the costliest natural disaster in the history of the US.
Within three days of Hurricane Katrina, MusiCares® and the Recording Academy committed $1 million dollars to a relief fund. In the first three weeks of the crisis the MusiCares® fund had provided $1 million dollars to nearly 100 people. For many people, it was the first sign of hope and help after losing everything.
To date, MusiCares® has provided more than $4.5 million to more than 3500 music people affected by the Hurricane.
Thanks to MusiCares® a lot of musicians will be coming back to New Orleans. Hear what they have to say and why you should donate to MusiCares.
To continue providing assistance to the Music Community, MusiCares® has launched our first ever public outreach and donation campaign.
We need your help to make it happen!

Addiction, Health and Wellness in the Public Eye
Power and fame come in many forms. The impact on public figures—including elected officials, artists and musicians, and high networth executives—directly affects their experience with addiction, treatment and recovery. MusiCares®, in partnership with Foundations Recovery Network, is proud to announce “Power, Fame & Recovery: Addiction, Health and Wellness in the Public Eye,” Foundations 34th national conference.
This conference will explore the dynamics of addiction and the unique treatment challenges faced by people of influence. Participants will learn the most effective methods to engage this population in treatment, including planning intervention strategies, handling delicate legal concerns, dealing with the media, integrating support systems in the treatment process, and understanding ethical issues for clinicians.
Whether your patient focus is Fortune 100 CEOs, struggling recording artists or smalltown mayors, “Power, Fame & Recovery” will provide key insights into the dynamics of influence and equip you with proven strategies for successful and long lasting recovery. From the ordinary to the extraordinary, wherever the spotlight shines, “Power, Fame & Recovery” will provide insight into enhancing the quality of care, professional responsibility and integrity in serving this unique population.

You Want to be That Music Blogger?
All we want you to do is what you do best; write about music! OK, it’s slightly more complicated than that, but should come naturally to you. Your whole blog or site does not have to be about only music or any particular kind of music: music news, hip hop blogs, indie music blogs, new music blogs, house music blogs, rap blogs, rock music blogs, country music blogs, rock music websites, or music review sites are all welcome! On YOUR OWN music blog or website, anytime between Sept. 9th and Oct. 31st, write at least 300 words about how music has impacted your life and why people reading your music blog post should support MusiCares®. Possible blog post themes can be:
- Why is the support that MusiCares® provides important / necessary?
- Why should readers support music and the artists who dedicate their life to music?
- “Music is powerful in many ways – it can be a healing agent, it can teach other skills, it can communicate across other barriers. What power of music have you seen in action?
- How does music play a role in addiction recovery?
- Was there a time that music saved you or someone you know?
- Which musical artist did we lose too soon due to addiction, financial, or medical woes?
- What about music impacted your life?
- Music, food, or love – which would you rather have on a deserted island?
- Or anything else that moves you about music and its importance to you and the world!
The post MUST be written between Sept. 9th to Oct. 31st and include:
- The official MusiCares® logo on this post.
- A disclosure to your readers linking back to this blog post informing them that you are writing the post as a contest entry. Here’s an example: “Disclaimer: This blog post has been written for entry into the MusiCares® Music Blogger of the Year contest.”
- And this phrase with the link:
“MusiCares® helps and supports the people who dedicate their lives to making the music I blog about. Please join the Be A Part of the Heart MusiCares® mosaic at https://beapartoftheheart.com/ and be entered for a chance to win a trip the 2012 GRAMMYS®!”
Then, when your post is live, go to the MusiCares® Facebook page and enter the contest through the Music Blogger navigation tab on the left. You will be required to like the page to enter the contest and supply the dedicated URL of the entry post as well as your email so we can contact you if you are a finalist! And if you are so inclined, you can write more than one! But again, this must all be done by Oct. 31st.
Finalists Selected and Then One Winner Chosen By Your Readers!
Then we determine the finalists based on quality, creativity, originality, and impact! You will be contacted if you make it to round two and we’ll even give you a snazzy looking badge that you can show off on your blog to tell your readers where they can go to vote for you! We’ll highlight the finalist entries with snippets of the posts and links back to YOUR blog from a blog post here. Plus, we’ll promote the winning entries on our social media networks. Voting will then be open to the public from Nov. 1th to Nov. 30 th! Off our MusiCares® Facebook page, people will vote for their favorite blog post from the list of finalists! Of course, you can promote your own entry in any way you like and ask your networks to vote for you! The only requirement is that voters must like the MusiCares® Facebook page before they vote. After the voting period closes on Nov. 30 th, the finalist with the most votes is declared the MusiCares® Music Blogger of the Year and will be the only MusiCares® blogger on that red carpet! So what are you waiting for? Get blogging!!
